To explain how light from sun is generated we must start with the energy that generates the light. The energy in the sun comes from a process called nuclear fusion. In the core of the sun the pressure and temperatures are so high that they cause hydrogen atoms to fuse (nuclear fusion). This process produces a lot of energy and Gamma rays. These are converted to X-rays, ultraviolet, visible light, infrared and others as they travel to the surface of the sun. We are able to see visible light what we call sunlight which illuminates our world. We can not see X-rays and UV rays with our eyes but these are all emitted by the sun.
